Holidays and Observances

Diwali

In the Jain context, Diwali marks when Bhagwan Mahavir attained Nirvana.

Paryushan / Das Lakshan

Paryushan and Das Lakshan are two significant Jain religious observances. Shwetambar Jains observe Paryushan for a period of eight days, and Digambars Jains observe Das Lakshan for ten days. Both observances are a time of intensive study, reflection, and purification in the middle of the four-month rainy season in India.
